CONDITIONS OF SALE

The information below will help you enjoy participating in our auctions.

CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION & VIEWING
The catalogue available on our web-site and in our sale room contains a brief description of each item. This description is for guidance only - some items are of an age or nature that means they may not be in perfect condition. Take the opportunity to attend our viewing so that you can examine items yourself or contact us prior to the sale if you have any questions about an item.

BIDDING
You can bid in person in the sale room, by leaving an advance commission bid with us or by booking a telephone bid. Once registered to bid, you are allocated a unique bidding number for the sale. To place a commission bid or book a telephone bid, please contact us no later than 5pm on the day before the sale.

PAYMENT
The Winners’ Premium is the commission paid to the auctioneer by the Winner over and above the final sale price of each item. OUR WINNERS’ PREMIUM IS 12.5% (much less than most auction houses). Please take this into account when bidding.

You are welcome to pay either by cash in person, by cheque accompanied by a cheque guarantee card sufficient to cover the total cost of your purchase(s), by electronic bank transfer or via Paypal (there is a 4% surcharge for payment by Paypal). Please note we do not currently accept debit / credit card payment. As the Winner, you only take ownership of the item once full payment is made. (In the case of cheque payment, this is not until the cheque has cleared even if you have already collected the item). We reserve the right to hold on to items paid for by cheque until the cheque has cleared.

Please note - once the Auctioneer has determined your bid to be the winning bid, a legal contract is created and you are obliged to pay for the item. So please only bid up to the amount you are prepared to pay and make sure you allow for the 12.5% Winner’s Premium.

If a Winner fails to pay for an item, the Auctioneer reserves the right to cancel the sale and re-sell the item(s) won. The Auctioneer can also proceed against the Winner for breach of contract.

All items are offered for sale as viewed and are sold as seen. The Auctioneer does not take any responsibility for the authenticity, origin or estimated price of items. All items are sold without any warranty or claim as to its suitability or fitness for its apparent purpose so as a prospective Winner, you should use your own judgement. All electrical items are sold on the express condition that the winner ensures they are examined by a competent electrician before connecting them to any source of electricity. All sales are final and no refunds are given.

SHIPPING
If placing a commission bid or bidding by telephone for an item that will you will require shipping, please ask us in advance of bidding for the cost of packing & shipping. This cost will be at your expense. Please note that we only arrange shipping of smaller items that can be handled by standard courier. We do not arrange shipping of larger items such as furniture, though you are welcome to arrange collection. Please check with us in advance of bidding.
